Ammon Taylor’s

RITES OF WARMING

A new kind of show for a new kind of world.

We’re the performers of bad news…

Pulling from jazz standards, climate research, and the stirring music of Igor Stravinsky, Rites of Warming is a grief-stricken romp through our dystopian future. Initially written and performed in a pre-COVID-19 world, composer Ammon Taylor’s experimental debut now holds a new kind of resonance as it asks of us the same questions we now daily find ourselves confronting:

How will we survive?

Where will we go?

And how can we make space, even at the end of the world as we know it, for laughter, love, and beauty?

Audience members love Rites of Warming!

“Be brave. Go see it.”

“I can't stop talking about this piece. Next level.”

“I hear Gerswhin, Ellington and Strayhorn, Stravinsky (of course), the blues, even some Wayne Shorter in there.”

“This was amazing, unique, smart, beautiful, scary, pissed me off, gave me love. I hope this gets more play.”

“You are exalting the conversation we are constantly avoiding and offering us the chance to pay attention, to claim our complicity, and challenging us to change before it’s too late.”
